Rupert & Rothschild
At the foot of the spectacular Simonsberg Mountain in the Franschhoek Valley, there lies the historic French Huguenot farm Fredericksburg. It was founded in 1690 and is now the home to Rupert & Rothschild Vignerons. It was in the Franschhoek Valley more than 300 years ago that the Huguenots discovered a terroir similar to the one in France that made for excellent wines. The ideal location for a partnership between South Africa and France! Rupert & Rothschild was then founded in 1997 due to the cooperation of Dr Anton Rupert from South Africa and the baron Edmond de Rothschild from the Bordeaux Château Clarke.
In order to produce truly grand wines, the teams from the vineyard and the wine cellar work closely together. Detailed, partly even obsessive attention to all aspects regarding wine cultivation and a skilfully utilized, modern cellar technology provide for the well-known classic, well-structured and always elegant wines.
