The Wine in Detail
The Backsberg Klein Babylons Toren presents itself as a dark red. The scent is reminiscent of herbs and blackcurrant. Notes of violet are also noticeable. The fruity notes reoccur in the taste, cinnamon and vanilla notes as well as aromas of blackberry join. The mature and well-structured red wine also has rich tannins which make for a lingering and strong finish.

The Backsberg Klein Babylons Toren goes well with venison, steak or well marbled beef. Savoury salads or vegetable dishes are also a good choice.

Grape Variety
The Backsberg Klein Babylons Toren is a cuvee of the noble grapes Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Whilst Cabernet Sauvignon is known for aromas of blackcurrant and is the possibly highest class red vine, Merlot makes for velvety and luscious wines. Merlot often features notes of plums and blackberries. Petit Verdot complets the wine.

The winery Backsberg is located between the famous wine regions Paarl and Stellenbosch. Laborious cultivation methods and modern cellar technology make for high class wines at the foothills of Simon’s Mountain. Many wine lovers rank the Backsberg Klein Babylons Toren as the flagship of the winery. Rightly so, as numerous awards give testament to its quality. 

Storage
The Backsberg Klein Babylons Toren can be enjoyed today. Yet it is very suitable for storage and keeps its quality in the wine cellar for some years. After the harvest, the Backsberg Klein Babylons Toren matured in oak for twelve to eighteen months.
