Cape Caipi – Caipirinha in the South African way

Ingredients: 100 ml white wine (e.g. Leopard's Leap Lookout Collection Semi-Sweet), 100 ml water, 100 g sugar, limes, ice cubes or crushed ice
For the garnish: lime slices, mint leaves


First, make the sugar syrup for the cocktail. To do this, put the water and sugar in a saucepan and bring to the boil. Stir until the sugar has dissolved in the water, then remove the pan from the heat and allow the syrup to cool. Now mix the sugar syrup with the white wine (e.g. with a cocktail shaker). Wash the lime and mint leaves and pat dry. Cut the lime into wedges, put them into glasses and mash the lime wedges in the glass. Then fill the glasses with the ice cubes or crushed ice and pour the white wine and sugar syrup mixture over it. Garnish the cocktail with lime slices and mint leaves as desired.
